Quality & Environment

Environment

We aim to conduct our operations in an environmentally sound manner, through continual improvement in the environmental performance of all our activities, work processes, products and services.

In 2013, we reviewed our processes to ensure that we operated efficiently and redefined our environmental and quality practices to continue to support our markets and deliver quality products at the best price. We went on a journey to ensure that:

“Everybody works to reduce waste and energy via innovative practices and product development, with visible savings being passed onto our customers and local communities

We strive to be eco-friendly through energy efficiency, waste control and recycling. We hold the ISO14001 Environmental Management System which manages impact on the environment in the production process and influences the type of products produced.

To achieve this we:

  • Maintain an effective environmental management system
  • Comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations
  • Set objectives and targets to reduce our environmental impact
  • Ensure all employees are aware of this policy and their participation in its implementation
  • Respond quickly to incidents resulting from our operations, co-operate with industry organisations and authorised government agencies
  • Annually review our operations and measure progress to ensure compliance with this policy
  • Locally source goods and services wherever feasible and commercially viable. With many parts and suppliers in a 50 mile radius of our sites
  • Aim to reduce our environmental impacts associated with the use of transport

In the management of our premises and activities we seek to:

  • Reduce the consumption of energy and water
  • Minimise waste by an improved recycling programme and company-wide promotion of the waste hierarchy
  • Minimise the use of hazardous materials
  • Take all reasonable steps to prevent pollution

In the provision of our products we aim to reduce the environmental impact of our machines by:

  • Developing in-house products with reduced environmental impact
  • Working with suppliers to ensure any harmful environmental impacts of our products are reduced where practically possible
  • Assessing the compliance of our machines with regard to current and planned regulatory requirements
  • It is the responsibility of the Chief Executive and Managing Director to ensure that the commitments of this policy are incorporated into all business activities
